ABOUT US

The JCB Foundation was established by  Stephen M. Goodly, Jr. and Connor J. Goodly in 2017 to honor the memory of their maternal grandmother, Josephine Comeaux Belisle. The foundation embodies her core values  and passion for creative writing.

Josephine was a proud product of New Orleans Public Schools, graduating from Walter L. Cohen Senior High School.  She received a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology and Psychology from Dillard University and a Master's Degree in Guidance and Counseling from Xavier University. Josephine was a anointed speech writer and orator who served as the keynote speaker at countless engagements.  While serving as the Director of Community Services for the Urban League from 1960-1963, she was cited by Jet Magazine for her study "Unwed Mothers in New Orleans." During her 31 years as a faculty member at Southern University at New  Orleans she opened her heart and her home to students in need. Her motto was simply: "I shall pass this life once.  If I can do anything for my fellow man, let me do it now."
